Midland's GXT1000VP4K two-way, 22-channel radios are designed for GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) operation, in a rugged, weatherproof package. With a range of up to 36 miles, they're perfect for most any adventure. Features include privacy codes, direct/group calling, NOAA weather radio/alert/scan, silent operation, whisper function, SOS siren, and plenty more.

The GXT1000VP4Ks offer the standard 22 channels of crisp, clear RMRS communication, plus 28 extra channels for your use, with a range of up to 36 miles under optimal conditions. 387 privacy codes are provided as well, effectively giving you up to 5560 channel options for blocking other conversations.
Channel scan can automatically check all channels for activity, stopping on any active channel for five seconds. You can also monitor your own channel for activity before you transmit, and use a roger beep to indicate call completion with an audible beep.
For incoming calls, 10 separate alert tones are provided to notify you of calls from within your group, or you can set to just a vibrate alert for silent operation. A direct call feature lets you respond to one member of your party without alerting the others.
While communicating, you can rest assured you'll be heard with features like auto squelch, which removes annoying background noise, or the "Whisper" feature, which allows you to speak quietly and still be heard. You can also make sure you're hitting keys with keystroke tones, and use the keypad lock feature to "lock in" your preferred settings.
For hands-free communication, use the eVOX voice-activated feature, with nine levels of sensitivity and no need for an external microphone.
Ready for Emergencies
The GXT1000VPK is ready for emergencies. NOAA Weather Alert Radio with Weather Scan automatically locks on to your local weather channel, and alerts you to severe weather in your area (you can use the Weather Scan feature for a more casual scan of weather info). If you're in trouble, an SOS siren allows you to send out distress/locator signals in an emergency situation. Additionally, a Dual Watch feature lets you monitor two channels at once.
Ready for the Outdoors
These radios boast an extra-durable, water-resistant body, and are certified JIS4 waterproof, for protection against rain/splashing.
Dual Power Options
For powering the GXT1000VPK, you can use four standard "AA" batteries or the included rechargeable battery packs. A battery life extender provides longer battery life, and you can also select between high/medium/low power transmission setting to get the most out of your power source.
